Here’s a good indication of where I am with my gear right now. Today we had a family day at Bates Nut Farm, a local favorite where families can enjoy a pumpkin field and all the good fun that usually goes with a visit to a farm. Pony rides, hay rides, good food and just an overall nice place on a Sunday afternoon.
I took along my bag with my Nikon D300, my 70-200mm, my 105mm, my 17-55mm and my 10-20mm. But all that stayed in the truck. I picked up my Fujifilm X100 and went with it for all my shooting today. Now I know I could have gotten some great photographs with my Nikon and only one of these lenses. But the light weight of the Fuji and its ease of use made it my camera of choice today and it is increasingly becoming my first choice for shooting.
Now I know I still need my D300 and there are situations where I know I’d prefer to have it for a shoot. I think those situations will probably tend around a more deliberate and conscious plan of where and what I want to shoot.
It’s great to have this Fuji X100.
